{ TREASURES OF MAROCCO
TARAZA }

The Ministry of Culture for Morocco together with Absy.com, Equipage and ACR Edition announce the V.2 release of its CD-ROM (PC/MAC/UNIX & networks compatible), which displays the entire range of art and ancient manuscripts in the Moroccan national museums.

In a literal translation from Arabic, the "museum" is the place where "treasures" are deposited. With the display of more than 300 objects of art, archaeology and masterpieces of Moroccan culture over the centuries, the exploration of 20 museums and ancestral sites of exceptional interest, and an introduction to Berber and Andalucian music, this CD-ROM is a rich panorama of the treasures of Morocco.

More than 700 screens, of which 170 were conceived and developed by Joanna Lasserre, artistic director, and including 20 minutes of high quality video.

For more than two years Berengere Casanova, the author and designer of this project, has searched and studied the Moroccan history and arts and has produced a number of television documentaries on the subject.

Marc Salama, project head and technical director, lead the production work for ABSY.COM The whole complex project was completed in record time - 9 months in 1999. Photographies of exceptional quality was guaranteed through the involvement of ACR Editions and its representative Ahmed-Chaouki Rafif, one of the foremost specialists in Moroccan arts, as well as the Moroccan national museums.

The official presentation of the CD-ROM took place on the 24th November 1999 in Rabat, in the presence of the Moroccan Minister for Cultural Affairs, his Secretary General, the French Ambassador, and a range of personalities from the arts, press and industry - and outstandingly, from EDF, the project sponsor.

This PC/MAC/UNIX CD-ROM was developed using a hybrid HTML technology and can be read in Netscape or Explorer - version 4 minimum - with Flash and Quicktime 3.0 plug-ins. Some updates will be available online and can be downloaded by anyone who has registered their CD-ROM with our service department.

Other principal contributors to the project : EDF, the AFAA, the French Ministry of Culture, Le Temps du Maroc and the French Embassay in Morocco.

In July, ABSY.COM has shot for Hamster/JLA Productions, 6 short hidden cameras for the TV magazine called "CA VA FAIRE MÂLE", broadcasted on France 2, this summer. The shooting was done with Sony DVCam and postproduced on Final Cut Pro.

ABSY.COM's teams and DVCam technologies have been used for 2 reports on domestic animals for JLA Productions.

In a co-production with Seventh Records, ABSY.COM is filming interviews with the musicians in MAGMA as part of a combined documentary and concert video production - focus on 30 years of MAGMA music. Part of this celebration include a multi-camera shoot of the historic Concerts which took place on the 12th, 13th and 14th May 2000 at the Trianon in Paris.
